It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections such as:
Upper and lower respiratory tract infections: For example, ear, nose and throat infections, otitis media, sinusitis, pharyngotonsillitis, acute exacerbations of chronic bronchitis, lobar pneumonia and bronchopneumonia.
Gastrointestinal infections: For example, typhoid and paratyphoid fever.
Genitourinary infections: For example; cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis, bacteriuria in pregnancy, septic abortion, puerperal septicemia.
Skin and soft tissue.
Bile duct infections.
Gonorrhea (non-penicillinase producing strains).
Dental abscesses: (As a complement to surgical treatment).
Eradication of Helicobacter pylori strains in cases of ulcer (duodenal and gastric).
Infections such as septicemia, endocarditis and meningitis, caused by sensitive microorganisms, should initially be treated with high doses of parenterally administered therapy and, when appropriate, in combination with another antibiotic.
